After discovering that I could make a Pikachu piñata last week, I’ve since been busy creating other birthday-related things for Tyler’s party.
There would be no party without our guests, So I got to work making the invitations. I think everyone should make their own (time permitting). You get to customize and personalize the cards to suit the style of your event, from color, wordings, to images! (with my husband’s help). Soo, Hallmark cards are of higher quality, and they’ll save you a day of cutting and pasting paper, and hours on the computer selecting the perfect picture, choosing the right fond, text, size and message, but I doubt your kids will think you’re cool. So, I guess it all depends on how popular you want to be. (Don’t judge me)
I kept the invitation simple as it should be, only informing guests of the date, time, location, contact info and a brief message. For details, I added a pokeball at the top of the page that was attached with a double-sided adhesive raised sticker which gives it a 3D effect. The text is printed in blue and yellow to match the theme..
Next was the entertainment. I found a website that allows you to print costume Bingo cards, which I laminated for future use.
The boys were given these plastic balls from a birthday party. I thought it would make a good Pokeball for our Pass the Pokeball game, after I touch it up that is. I spray paint the orange side red, and fill the clear side with white tissues (I didn’t have white paint), added a black ribbon around the center and a white circle from construction paper.
Having an artist brother I thought I should take advantage of that. I selected an image of Pikachu and got him to paint it on a poster, while I cut out the tails for pinning.
I also print out tons of Pokemon coloring sheets, for our coloring station in case some of the children didn’t want to participate in the other games.
Finally, each child will receive a goodie bag at the end of the party. I got the idea from this blog. All you need are some white paper lunch bags (which were a bit hard to find since there are mostly brown ones), and Krylon’s Hobby crafts Enamel red spray paint, both at Micheal’s. It dried quickly after five minutes and didn’t soak through the paper bags!
All that’s left to make is the Chocolate with butter cream Pokemon cake and pokeball cookies. Will keep you updated 🙂
